From Diabetic Kid to Athlete: Powered by Green Smoothies

When he was just nine years old, Sergei Boutenko was diagnosed with diabetes. He was told by his physician that he had to go on insulin immediately. However, his mother his mother, Victoria Boutenko, did not want to accept the fact that her son will be dependent on synthetic insulin for the rest of his life. She set of to search for a decided to find a natural solution to her son's problem.

During her research, she stumbled onto the raw food diet and decided to switch her whole family to raw foods. The results were remarkable for the whole family, including Sergei, who overcame his diabetes and is now living disease-free.

However, eating raw foods was not easy, and when searching for ways to make it more enjoyable, she stumbled upon green smoothies. She was so excited about how delicious they were and how easy they were to prepare, that she decided to popularize them so that more people could reap the benefits. She wrote several books and is now known as the "Queen of Green Smoothies".
